About Nakato Japanese Restaurant

Nakato Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar has been a Charlotte tradition since 1976. It was the first restaurant in the area to offer wonderful meals prepared by our expert Hibachi Chefs in the traditional Japanese style of Teppan Yaki.

Nakato's was originally located on Independence Blvd across from the old Charlotte Coliseum. That restaurant was relocated to its current South Charlotte location on Pineville-Matthews Rd in 1990. After the move, Nakato's was delighted to began offering the finest in sushi at the unique "Floating Sushi Bar."

The Nakato Family has since built a second location in the University Area of North Charlotte. They continue the longstanding tradition of preparing the finest of meals in front of the customer's eyes using only the finest of ingredients. Whether you choose the sizzling Teppan Yaki grill or the exquisite Sushi Bar, you will surely be delighted.
